When designing my memorial I looked at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial as well as Grant's Tomb. I knew that I wanted to honor not only those we lost but also the essential, and healthcare workers that risked their lives for us. The left Wall inside my memorial will be covered from top to bottom with all the essential workers that continued to fight and risk their lives to end this pandemic. The right wall will be all the cherished lives that we lost during this horrible time. I took the walls of names idea from the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and my memorial is based off of Grant's Tomb in New York. The back wall will have a statue of a Lion, Which represents strength. For our country to get through this pandemic we need to come together and help each other, give each other strength to carry on, and we will make it through.
